A little more than 12 million students, middle and high school students, find their way back to their establishments for a new school year under the threat of the Delta variant.

This year, they will have the opportunity to be vaccinated in their schools.

How do they welcome this new measure?

Europe 1 went to a high school in Nice.

REPORTING

It is a new school year placed under the sign of vaccination for a little of 12 million middle and high school students.

A new recovery while respecting a strict sanitary protocol: indoor mask from primary school, limitation of the mixing of students by level.

But the big news this year for 12-17 year olds is that they will be able to be vaccinated against Covid-19 in their establishment.

Will the students be there?

Europe 1 handed them the microphone in front of the Guillaume Apollinaire high school in Nice.

"I would only get vaccinated if it was compulsory"

In front of this Nice high school, it is the seconds who have just crossed the gates of the establishment first. Later in the day, it will be the turn of the first and third year students to return to school. Class starts at eight o'clock, with smiles on their faces. They are happy to see the friends again. Some who move from middle school to high school are a little anxious. This high school offers students this afternoon to be vaccinated, but Souâd and Youness are divided. "I would only get vaccinated if it is compulsory", explains Souâd to the microphone of Europe 1. "Soon, it will be compulsory in stores, restaurants, it is better to have the vaccine or we will not be able to return in these establishments, "Youness replies, even though he says'not yet sure if you get the vaccine at your school '.

Mixed reviews

Other high school girls like Chloé and Léa will not be vaccinated.

But these two teenage girls who are entering second year hope to have a normal year.

"We would like it to come back as before. Before the video lessons and health passes, we were free. It's all over," sighs one of the students.

"We do not have enough perspective on the vaccine, so that does not tempt me. Frankly, I would not be vaccinated at school," explains her friend.

This observation was widely shared by the majority of the students met in front of the high school gates this Thursday morning.
