Students from France are back to school this Thursday.

Guest from Europe morning, François-Xavier Bellamy, MEP LR, has just unveiled his proposals to reform the school at the microphone of Sonia Mabrouk.

A necessity according to him when dozens of teachers have announced their resignation and will not return to school.

INTERVIEW

They are nearly 12.3 million students to find their way back to school this Thursday.

On Europe Matin, the European deputy Les Républicains and associate professor of philosophy François-Xavier Bellamy unveiled his proposals for the school, which according to him no longer manages to transmit the most fundamental knowledge.

Remove the high school reform

"I believe that we must bet everything on primary school because it all starts there. We have not stopped dispersing learning and increasing extracurricular activities but we must put an end to all that. We must focus on programs and rebuild a school that transmits knowledge, "he said, explaining that if Jean-Michel Blanquer himself had formulated these wishes at the start of the five-year term, no action had followed.

François-Xavier Bellamy also called for the abolition of the high school reform - which consists, among other things, in strengthening continuous monitoring and abandoning common tests.

"It has contributed to further weaken education in basic subjects, making high school infinitely complicated," continued the deputy.

According to him, everything needs to be rebuilt and rebuilt and the school should be the great national cause.

"We will never have a prosperous economy if our students do not know the basic lessons today when they leave school."

Stop "sending young teachers to difficult neighborhoods"

Regarding the case of teachers, François-Xavier Bellamy wants to increase their salary by 20% on average when Jean-Michel Blanquer wants his starting income to be 2000 euros net per month. "We will only succeed in paying our teachers if we manage to cut into the structure," said the deputy, who clarified that with regard to the OECD, teachers in France are underpaid. "Today, we have 1 million civil servants and 200,000 are not in front of students [...] It is absolutely necessary to put an end to this over-administration in order to concentrate on the action in the field and on the contrary to give the means to the teachers" , said the deputy.

François-Xavier Bellamy also proposed reforming the evaluation of teachers, giving the example of the United Kingdom.

“The teachers who engage the most need recognition to be stimulated. It starts with stopping sending young teachers to difficult neighborhoods, as was the case with me and many of my colleagues. We must allow them to have a first experience before confronting the most complex situations, better support them and better remunerate them ", added the deputy.
