The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge announced the launch of a strategic initiative, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Department of Health, to provide a screening examination for the “Covid-19” virus infection for students, teachers and school workers, where they can conduct periodic examinations in their schools without the need to go to external examination centers. This is in accordance with the requirements of periodic examinations recently announced by the National Authority for Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management.

Last Monday, Emirates Today published the demands of students to conduct a periodic PCR examination for students and teachers in schools.

In detail, the department stated that its cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Department of Health aims to facilitate periodic examinations for students, teachers and school workers, and to enhance the efficiency of health and safety operations in schools, as schools will be able to obtain the results of examinations within a short period of time that allows them to ensure the application of safe entry requirements. The initiative also contributes to alleviating pressure on students’ families and external examination centers in the emirate, and the examination in schools contributes to reducing the possibility that students or employees will not be able to conduct it in a timely manner, thus enabling the entire educational sector to continue its operational operations efficiently.

The Undersecretary of the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi, Dr. Jamal Muhammad Al Kaabi, said, "The distinguished efforts made by Abu Dhabi in the face of the pandemic succeeded in maintaining the health and safety of community members in the emirate and the return of students to school in a healthy and safe environment, which we have worked to achieve with our partners. in the Department of Education and Knowledge.

He added, "This initiative comes within our goals aimed at ensuring the health and safety of students, their families and society as a whole by facilitating examination procedures and conducting them periodically and effectively, in order to achieve the continuity of the students' academic career without any interruption," noting that students within the specified age groups can choose to obtain On a nasal swab or saliva analysis to detect the “Covid-19” virus.

For his part, the Undersecretary of the Department of Education and Knowledge, Amer Al Hammadi, said: “Since the beginning of this week, we have witnessed a large turnout of students to continue their classroom education in all schools in various regions of the emirate.

As our educational sector is heading to recover and return to normal life, maintaining the health and safety of the educational sector with its students, teachers and employees remains our top priority.

Therefore, we continue to work with dedication and coordination with all partners in the public and private sectors to implement the best health and safety standards, and to ensure the smooth running of school operations to maintain the quality education provided by schools to students.”

He added: “Thanks to our constant communication with schools and the concerned authorities, we realized the need to develop a model that allows students to obtain periodic examinations without placing additional burdens on parents, and for this we cooperated with the Department of Health to provide a screening examination for the “Covid-19” virus for all beneficiary groups within each school. . This model enhances the operational efficiency of schools, and ensures that all students and teachers receive periodic examinations at the appropriate time in an easy way.” It is worth noting that the families of students had called through “Emirates Today” on August 30, for the need for a periodic examination mechanism to avoid crowding the examination centers, especially since all students will conduct the examination at the same time, and demanded that a periodic “PCR” examination be conducted in schools to facilitate the examination. Students, avoiding crowds in examination centers and delaying results, especially that younger children can have saliva examinations done to facilitate and speed up the sample collection process, in addition to that school nurses are trained to take a nasal swab for older students.
