02 September 2021New murder in Nuorese a few days after the one committed in Orune.

The crime took place in the countryside of Noragugume, a town known in Sardinia for the bloody feud between rival families.

The Carabinieri of the Ottana Company and colleagues from the Nuoro Operational Department arrived on the spot, with the magistrate on duty from the Oristano Public Prosecutor's Office.

Luigi Cherchi, a 67-year-old farmer, is the victim of the murder, surprised by the killers in his countryside, along the provincial road 33 that leads from Noragugume to Ottana.

Cherchi belongs to a family involved in the bloody feud that began in the town of central Sardinia in the late 90s, years in which two of his brothers, Giuseppe and Salvatore, were killed. Giulio, another brother of Luigi Cherchi, had been convicted of a murder again in the context of the long trail of crimes that bloodied the small town of just 300 souls.

The new murder comes a few days after the Orune crime: on 29 August a 74-year-old farmer, Mauro Antonio Carai, was killed with over 10 stab wounds while returning from the fold.
