According to the indictment, the rape took place in December 2018 in Umeå.
The two men are suspected of having raped a woman who was in a particularly vulnerable situation due to intoxication.
- It happened at an after-party early in the morning in an apartment.
The men had no relationship with the woman, says Linnea Hedström, chamber prosecutor.
One of the men was arrested and detained in connection with the incident but was later released.
The investigation was then dropped but the woman appealed the decision.
- A review of the decision was made and the chief prosecutor then took up the preliminary investigation again, says Linnea Hedström.
After that, the other perpetrator was identified.
The evidence includes several interrogations of witnesses, playback of the alarm call, and an expert opinion of the NFC regarding DNA analyzes.
- There are DNA traces and observations from witnesses that support the plaintiff's story.
I believe in a conviction, says Linnea Hedström.
Both men deny any wrongdoing.
