At least eight people became victims of the disaster in the states of New York and New Jersey. Hurricane Ida brought thunderstorms and squally winds to the northeastern United States. According to meteorologists, up to 127 mm of precipitation per hour was recorded in some areas. Subway stations and streets were flooded.
