Mohammed bin Rashid makes a phone call with the President of Uzbekistan and reviews with him the prospects for government partnership between the two countries

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, congratulated Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, on the occasion of the 30th Independence Day of Uzbekistan.

This came during a telephone call, during which His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum conveyed the congratulations of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, on this occasion, and his wishes for further progress and prosperity for the friendly state of Uzbekistan.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum stressed the exceptional relations that bring together the two friendly peoples, especially in the field of government development, and at the economic and investment levels between the two countries.

The bilateral relations between the UAE and Uzbekistan are strong and solid, as the two countries have taken important steps during the past period in order to support and strengthen relations in the field of government development, and cooperation has expanded to include many social and economic sectors, especially at the trade and investment levels.

This partnership reflects the UAE's keenness to transfer its development experience in various fields and harness it to serve friendly peoples and governments, and enhance its ability to invent new business models that meet future requirements.

The partnership between the UAE and Uzbekistan covers 25 axes and 160 initiatives, in addition to organizing 125 workshops with the participation of more than 250 thousand Uzbek officials, government employees and trainees, while the number of workshops and training hours reached about 2.5 million hours, and the first cycle of government accelerators in Uzbekistan achieved success. He was involved in designing solutions to challenges, with the participation of 38 officials from 29 government agencies.

During the first cycle of the One Million Uzbek Programmers Initiative, about 500,000 trainees participated in the initiative, which contributed to strengthening the capacity of Uzbek youth in computer science and software.

This strategic partnership reflected the extent of the success of the fruitful bilateral cooperation model, and the depth of relations between the two countries and their leadership, which resulted in the consolidation of a global model of governmental cooperation that benefits the two friendly peoples.

The relations between the two countries contributed to creating the appropriate atmosphere to enhance joint cooperation in various fields, so that the UAE became the first Arab trading partner for Uzbekistan, with more than 50% of its trade with Arab countries. At the same time, the value of non-oil foreign trade between the two countries amounted to about 400 million. US dollars / 1.5 billion UAE dirhams / during the year 2020.

The volume of mutual investments between the two sides amounted to more than 3.8 billion US dollars, 97% of which are Emirati investments in Uzbekistan, and include a number of vital sectors, such as real estate, wholesale and retail trade, transport and storage, and professional, scientific and technical activities.
