Burkina Faso: four dead in a construction accident in Koudougou

In Burkina Faso, a building under construction collapsed on Tuesday August 31 at Norbert Zongo University in Koudougou, about 100 kilometers from the capital.

The incident occurred while workers were stripping off a slab.

The incident occurred while workers were removing the formwork, explains the communication department of Norbert Zongo University.

The slab of a hostel under construction on the site of the new university campus has collapsed.

Helpers removed four lifeless bodies from the rubble.

Among the victims are three students who were on internship and a worker.

An injured worker was pulled out of the rubble and taken to the Koudougou Regional Hospital Center.

The university announces the establishment of a crisis unit to determine " 

the causes of the incident and locate the responsibilities

 ".

The Minister of Higher Education, Alkassoum Maïga, instructed all those involved in the execution of the contract to do what is necessary to establish the real causes which led to this tragedy and to draw “ 

contractual responsibilities

 ” from it.

The coordinator of the Sens movement, master Guy Hervé Kam did not hide his anger following this tragedy.

“ 

Enough is enough,” he

underlines, “

the tragedy of Koudougou revolts us and challenges us

.

It is time for the poor performance of public contracts to be made an offense,

 ”he continues.

Rasmané Zinaba, of the Citizen Broom, demands all the light, justice and sanctions against all those who are involved in the execution of this market.

No society can prosper with impunity and corruption, 

" he said.
