On August 31, local time, the twin cubs "Mengmeng" and "Mengyuan" of giant pandas in Germany, "Mengmeng" and "Jiaoqing", ushered in their two birthdays. The Berlin Zoo held a celebration for them.

On the same day, the garden party specially prepared a "birthday cake" made of apples, beetroot and bamboo for the giant panda twins, with "birthday candles" made of sweet potatoes inserted on it.

The red Arabic numeral "2" carved with beet juice ice cubes in front of "cake" symbolizes the two years of "dream" and "dream circle" spent here.

The celebration attracted many media and local tourists.

Andreas Knirim, director of the Berlin Zoo, told reporters: "I am very pleased that "Dream" and "Meng Yuan" were born and grew up in the Berlin Zoo with the help of the breeder from China."

"I remember they weighed less than 200 grams when they were born, and now they have grown to almost 65 kilograms," Knilim said.

"At present, giant panda twins get along very well with their mothers, but we also know that panda cubs are usually separated from their mothers when they are two to four years old." "We are currently discussing with China the next research plan for the breeding of giant pandas."

"Mengmeng" and male giant panda "Jiaoqing" arrived in Berlin in June 2017. They gave birth to male twin cubs "Mengmeng" and "Mengyuan" on August 31, 2019. This is the first time a giant panda has given birth in Germany.

According to the giant panda conservation research cooperation agreement signed by the Berlin Zoo and the China Wildlife Conservation Association, "Mengmeng" and "Jiaoqing" will live in Germany for 15 years.

"Dream" and "Meng Yuan" will live in Berlin for two to four years before returning to China.
