01 September 2021 Criminal and journalists' representatives share "the need to define new operational tools to make the prevention of a phenomenon more effective that arouses great concern also due to the size it is assuming on the network".



This is what emerged during the meeting of the "Coordination Center of the monitoring, analysis and permanent exchange of information on the phenomenon of intimidating acts against journalists", convened at the Interior Ministry by the Minister of the Interior, Luciana Lamorgese, after the 'intensification of the attacks on the network and the serious acts of violence that have affected some reporters during protests against the government's measures to contain the spread of Covid 19. 



In the first seven months of 2021, acts of intimidation against journalists grew by 19% compared to the same period last year. And more than one in two cases occurred on the web, it is one of the data that emerged during the meeting. 



'' The common goal is also to identify specific measures aimed at strengthening the protection against attacks on the network not only against journalists but against all the categories most exposed to hate episodes in this delicate historical phase characterized by the pandemic '' , said the Minister of the Interior Luciana Lamorgese, at the end of the meeting at the Viminale of the Coordination Center of the monitoring, analysis and permanent exchange of information on the phenomenon. The meeting was attended, among others, by the police chief Lamberto Giannini, the deputy police chief Vittorio Rizzi, the president of the National Order of Journalists Carlo Verna and the general secretary of the National Press Federation Raffaele Lorusso.
