WPD Scandinavia is designing for the Stormossen wind farm, which extends into three municipalities: Sandviken, Hofors and Avesta.
It is very early in the process and WPD has previously wanted to build at Oppsjön near Österfärnebo and now wants to expand to new and higher plants when the technology has advanced.
- We do not know if it is a suitable place, that is what we are going to find out now, we are early in the process, but it is interesting to look further at this place.
It is a large area to build on, there is good wind at these heights and it is electricity area three, where the need is great, says Maria Röske who is CEO of WPD Scandinavia Onshore.
Does it matter that it is close to Ovako in Hofors and Microsoft's establishment in the region?
- This makes this area even more interesting, there is a need all over the country for fossil-free electricity production, but especially in this part of the country.
The moderates in Sandviken went out on Monday and said that they want the municipality to use its veto and say no to the planned wind farms in Galmsjömyran, which are planned in Sandviken and Falu municipality, and which we told about earlier ..
- Stormossen is so early in the process so we have not taken a position on that park yet, says opposition councilor Jonny Brattberg (M) Sandviken municipality.
WPD will begin consultations in the three municipalities during the autumn.
Horndal are the communities that will be closest to the wind farm, despite the fact that a very small part is geographically located in Avesta municipality and Dalarna.
The largest areas are in the municipalities of Hofors and Sandviken.
