Police have uncovered 'criminal allegations' in a unique experiment in which a woman in India died after being bitten by a cobra.

According to foreign media such as Indian Express on the 27th local time, in May 2020, a 25-year-old woman was bitten to death by a cobra in Kerala, southwestern India.

It is known that Utra, who was living in Kolam, Kerala at the time, was already recovering health at her parents' house after being bitten twice by a viper.

However, Utra was bitten by a cobra again while lying on the bed and sleeping, and eventually died without recovery.

The death of Mr. Utra, who had almost been regarded as simply an unfortunate accident, was an unexpected opportunity and again drew the attention of investigative agencies.

Utra and her husband, Suraz, who fell asleep in the same room, stated that "a cobra came in through an open window and bit her," because it was determined that the two were in an air-conditioned room on the day of the accident.

Local police conducted a special experiment, weighing on the possibility that Mr. Suraj used a cobra to kill Mr. Utra.

After attaching a piece of raw chicken to the mannequin arm, with the help of a cobra trainer, the mannequin arm repeatedly touched the cobra.

The angry cobra viciously attacked a piece of chicken attached to the mannequin, when the depth and width of the tooth marks were measured to be 1.6 cm and 1.7 cm, respectively.

On the other hand, after grabbing the cobra's head and artificially hitting a piece of chicken with its teeth, it left a much larger mark 2.4cm deep and 2.4cm wide.

The cobra tooth marks left on Mr. Utra's body were 2.5 cm deep and 2.8 cm wide.

The video of the experiment was submitted as evidence in the trial of Mr. Suraj's murder charge held in early August of this year.

Police said, "The cobra's snout is about 2 cm wide, and a natural attack leaves a mark about 1.7 cm wide."

Utra is said to be the first case in Kerala to die from a snake bite.

The local court will use the video as evidence to closely examine the murder charges of Mr. Suraj.

This is a 'news pick'.
