Two men, aged 31 and 40, were arrested and placed in pre-trial detention at the Évreux remand center (Eure).

Originally from Flins-sur-Seine (Yvelines) and Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine), they are suspected of having attacked several gas stations.

The facts took place in the Eure and in the Yvelines, on the A13, reports Le Parisien.

The first attack took place on August 16 in Rosny-sur-Seine.

Two individuals entered the station and one threatened the employee with a weapon.

At the same time, his accomplice stole the money from the cash register before attacking the coin mechanism.

The thugs also left with cartons of cigarettes.

Known to the police

They committed similar acts in Vironvay then in Beuzeville, on August 19 and 24.

The thieves' vehicle could be identified using video surveillance.

The gendarmes of the research brigade of Mantes-la-Jolie had deposited a GPS beacon, in order to be able to follow the thieves.

They managed to spot them in the Douains area, in the Eure region.

On the spot, the police arrested the two men, whose car had broken down.

The latter were already known to the police.

They were taken into custody but gave no information to the officers.

The duo will be tried on October 6, before the Criminal Court of Évreux.
