"Within the framework of the exercises, the air defense troops of the armed forces of the member states of the unified air defense system of the CIS took up combat duty for the air defense of the protected area," TASS cites a statement.
It is noted that during the maneuvers, tactical techniques will be worked out for organizing the joint use of coalition aviation groups and air defense forces of the CIS countries in anti-terrorist operations and in armed conflicts.
Earlier it was reported that against the background of the aggravation of the situation in Afghanistan, the Collective Security Treaty Organization will hold maneuvers in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan this fall with the participation of several thousand troops.
