Aesthetically sensitive contemporaries don't have it easy in Frankfurt at the moment.

Some people who pass the freshly marked Oeder Weg probably wish for red-green visual impairment.

Because on the shopping and nightlife street, which is currently being converted into a bicycle-friendly side street, the city has had fewer stripes marked for cyclists in the typical signal red, but the paint bucket was completely poured out over several intersections.

You have to endure that first.

On the other hand, how beneficial it is to turn into Goethestrasse.

There, the wobbly paving stones were exchanged for a new, light-colored road surface, which spread out on the short luxury mile in the early days - unfortunately, the skid marks can no longer be overlooked - as simply and elegantly as a camel's hair coat from Jil Sander.

It is not the first time that the Office for Road Construction and Development has installed the light gray pavement.

As the authority reports, it is also on Reineckstrasse and Biebergasse.

In contrast to conventional asphalt, a transparent binder is used.

This makes it possible to color pigments in the desired shade.

It is said that it is used for design reasons, but also as a contribution to a balanced urban climate.

Light road surfaces heat up less in summer.

More of it, please, you would like to call out to the town planners.

Ideally, turn the Oeder Weg into a bicycle street, then at least it looks nice.

Bicycle road not yet marked

Goethestrasse is such a bicycle street in terms of the road traffic regulations. This means that cycling has priority here - unlike on the Oeder Weg, which is a city street with mixed traffic on an equal footing. Other vehicles are also allowed to use the lane, as it is easy to see in the picture above, because corresponding additional signs are set up. It is also correct: cyclists are allowed to ride next to each other on Goethestrasse. And how wonderfully the wheels are purring on the new asphalt! But the beautiful look could soon be over.

Because, as before, the marking on the pavement is still missing, which should indicate that it is a bicycle road. The club was swung last: large blue circles with a bicycle symbol in the middle. The Office for Road Construction and Development assures that the old markings should not be applied "one to one". “Whether it will turn out to be blue in the end, and in what form, is currently still being discussed.” Let's hope for the best.
