This is a first in the United Kingdom: two environmentalists in a local government, that of Scotland.

With this agreement, Prime Minister

Nicola Sturgeon

has a dual objective: to present an executive committed to the climate at the Cop26, organized on her land in November, and to strengthen her alliance for the

independence of Scotland

, defended by the two. gone.

It is not a coalition and we do not agree on all issues.

But we step out of our comfort zone to focus on what brings us together.

And we are doing this not out of political necessity, but for the common good

, ”said Nicola Sturgeon.

In their agreement, the two formations planned that they will be able to oppose on certain subjects such as defense.

But they will share the same program on the climate, Scottish independence or even rent control.

"

Our two parties will work together to build a strong and ambitious program for a green economic recovery after Covid-19, a 'New deal' for tenants and a fundamental change in our approach to transport

", assures Patrick Harvie, co- leader of the Greens and future minister.

This reshuffled government hopes for a new referendum on Scottish independence before the end of 2023. However, to organize it, it will need the agreement of

Boris Johnson,

who has always opposed it until now.
