His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, confirmed that the UAE has harnessed all its efforts to provide various needs to support the medical sector during the "Covid-19" pandemic, which made the country a global model in successfully dealing with the pandemic.

This came during His Highness presiding over a cabinet meeting held at the Cabinet Building in Qasr Al Watan Complex in Abu Dhabi, in the presence of Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior. During the meeting, the Cabinet approved a set of initiatives and policies aimed at developing work systems and mechanisms in various fields and sectors.

During the meeting, it was approved to issue a Cabinet decision regarding the executive regulations of the federal law regarding the regulation of medical products, the pharmacy profession and pharmaceutical facilities, aimed at raising the level of health services provided in the country to the best levels in accordance with best practices and international standards.

His Highness said: "We have adopted the regulations governing medical and pharmaceutical products in the country, and the goal is to ensure the presence and quality of all national medical needs throughout the year, and in all regions of the country."

The issuance of the regulation contributes to raising the level and quality of health services, achieving customer satisfaction, as well as contributing to achieving drug security for society. Permanently, temporary licensing mechanism for visiting pharmacists, and preservation of medicinal products during pharmacy maintenance.

The regulation also covers controls for prescription dispensing, cases of closure of pharmaceutical facilities or cancellation of their licenses, controls for possession and circulation of controlled substances and products, health and technical conditions for medical warehouses, in addition to the competencies of pharmaceutical consulting offices. During the meeting, the Cabinet approved an agreement between the government of the state and the government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on attracting aid grants from the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Works. The agreement comes within the framework of supporting national bodies and institutions working in the field of humanitarian work and disaster relief in Arab and foreign countries. In order to enhance their ability to carry out the activities offered by these institutions in those countries, and to protect them from imposing taxes on their employees and exempting them from customs duties, and other services that facilitate the operations of these institutions.

And in the context of developing health procedures at the border crossings, the Council agreed to issue a cabinet decision regarding the adoption of a guide to unified health procedures at the border crossings of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, which aims to implement emergency health measures and procedures based on the recommendations of the World Health Organization in accordance with epidemiological and regional developments. At the border crossings of the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, in order to prevent the spread of disease or danger at the level of the Gulf countries.
