During the new academic year that begins tomorrow, the Emirates Foundation for School Education will implement three types of learning in government schools at the state level, in order to achieve a safe return to schools, and to ensure the continuity of the educational process in light of the “Corona” pandemic, stressing the application of precautionary measures approved by the authorities. competent.

The Foundation explained that the specific types of learning include “real-world learning”, which is the traditional mode of teaching and learning, which is considered the most effective, and “distance learning”, which includes direct and indirect “asynchronous” e-learning, and both types are used to teach one student or a small group. From students or an entire division, and “simultaneous learning” in which students from one class are divided into two groups, one inside the class and the other “remotely”, and is used in the event that the spatial capacity is not available to accommodate all students.

This came in the “School Day Design” guide issued by the Foundation, which clarified that “realistic learning” is applied through three basic axes, first including the “inverted class” for the second and third cycles, which is implemented through a class strategy that depends on the student’s study of concepts and theories in home, and conducting practical applications for the lesson in school, and it requires the student to be informed of the recorded lesson and educational resources in the educational platforms available at home, in his own time in a self-learning style, and then he practices practical lesson activities in school with the teacher in a realistic learning style, and this strategy is used for scientific materials and applied that require practice in group and individual activities, including laboratory lessons.

Second, directed educational tasks (for all episodes), which are carried out through a classroom strategy that focuses on studying concepts and theories in the class, then the student performs the exercises, skills and accompanying tasks at school or at home, and this strategy is often used to support the activities of the basic subjects to deepen the understanding of the scientific material Before moving on to the application, they are distributed within the daily school schedule, and help support learning skills and ensure understanding of its outputs, including construction lessons in language subjects, arithmetic problems, and theories.

As for the third axis, which is self-learning in the school (for all episodes), it is included in the scheduled lessons, and is applied through the student’s work on educational activities individually or in groups, under the supervision and guidance of the teacher with giving feedback, so that educational platforms and school facilities are invested within Academic support plan for students who need intensive academic support, as well as implemented through teachers' sponsorship of small groups of students to enable them with the basic skills of the study stage, and the shares can be invested in enrichment activities from science clubs and various activities.

The guide divided "distance learning" into three types, including "direct e-learning", "the expert teacher's share", and "self-learning with guided tasks", explaining that "e-learning" in which the student and the teacher meet only through the means of electronic communication, and is applied This type is only in emergency cases, when students cannot be present at school.

As for “self-directed learning”, the student works alone on the educational material, partially or completely, and the teacher monitors and evaluates the student’s activities and work, and the student uses educational platforms in this type of learning, and classes for this type of learning can be scheduled within Student and teacher weekly schedule.

It applies “synchronous learning for two groups”, which combines “realistic” and “virtual” learning, according to the plan of each study stage, and employs laboratories for students in real education, and employs virtual laboratories for students in distance learning, emphasizing the need for the teacher to ensure a balance Educational opportunities for all students. This type of learning, to ensure the teacher’s success in managing the two groups simultaneously, requires the availability of appropriate technical equipment in all classrooms, and the live broadcast of the lesson through the “Teems” program.

"Master Class"

The expert teacher’s class “Master Class” is considered a kind of distance learning, and it is applied in the lecture system for a large group of students (people of one school stage), so that the teacher presents the basic concepts and knowledge of the lessons, then the students return to their basic groups with their teachers to complete learning with other types. This type of learning is used to fill vacancies and emergency situations, and to benefit from the experiences of distinguished teachers in the school, and is applied to the third cycle classes only.
