The following message from August 24th, 2021 leaves you or at least made my hair stand on end. Hamburg has decided on special corona rules only for vaccinated and convalescent people, the red-green Senate announced on Tuesday. With the new 2-G regulation, restaurants or concert organizers could, for example, make offers for vaccinated and convalescent people alone and deny access to unvaccinated people despite a negative corona test. The Hamburg Senate wants to prevent another lockdown and offer restaurateurs and event organizers general planning security. "Those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered do not play a major role in the infection process," said First Mayor Peter Tschentscher at the press conference. Another corona wave is a "wave of the unvaccinated".

Those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered therefore have no significant share in the infection process; this was declared by the mayor of Hamburg, who was also a physician by nature, undeterred by contrary scientific findings. There are more worrying reports in the media about the increasing holes in the protection caused by the various corona vaccinations. In Israel, about 60 percent of patients in hospitals for treatment are twice vaccinated against corona; one cannot help but wonder how it can be that all these vaccinated people became so seriously ill with corona that they had to be hospitalized.

Ok, but if you listen to politics like that, the main thing is not to protect yourself when you get vaccinated - why not? What other reason should you have to get vaccinated, especially if the vaccination is associated with unpleasant side effects? - but rather that the contagion of others is prevented: rediscovery of the "fraternity" in difficult times. How then do the vaccines approved in the Federal Republic of Germany come off. Not good, not at all good: Large-scale studies (Oxford, Singapore) on the infectiousness of unvaccinated and vaccinated people show that the viral load of the two groups is practically the same when infected with the Delta variant. So if vaccinated people become infected, they are just as infectious as infected non-vaccinated people. So there is no valid reason for privileging the first G of the 2-G rule.

With the second G of the unspeakable 2G rule, the situation is better. In fact, for all that is known, those who have recovered are immune to new corona contagion; however, the immunity is limited in time. A new infection should be possible in one percent of those who have recovered despite their immunity; this (small) group would then also be infectious for others. There is a certain degree of uncertainty regarding the possibility of infection by those who have recovered with regard to the duration of the immunity of those who have recovered: The corresponding regulation of the federal government of May 4, 2021 ends the recovered status after six months: How strong the immune protection and thus the exclusion of the possibility of infection for third parties as these six months progress, there does not seem to be any information on this. The “privileges” provided by the 2-G rule are therefore only very limited in the case of those who have been vaccinated, and are largely justified in the case of those who have recovered. Interesting, however, is that a corona infection that has passed unnoticed is not sufficient for the recovered status, which can later be detected by antibody detection using a blood test. No, you need a PCR test at the time of infection.
