US President Joe Biden said - Friday - that he "received a report from American intelligence agencies about the origins of the Corona virus," stressing that his country will do everything in its power to trace the roots of this epidemic to prevent it from happening again.

Biden added that "there is vital information about the origin of this pandemic in the People's Republic of China, but from the beginning government officials in China have worked to prevent international investigators and members of the global public health community from accessing it."

He stressed that his country will put pressure on China to abide by scientific rules and standards, including sharing information about the early days of the epidemic.

And the report issued by a group of American intelligence agencies suggests that the first infections in November 2019 occurred either as a result of an accident in a laboratory in Wuhan, China, or as a result of contact or approaching an animal carrying the virus.

"The virus was not developed to be a biological weapon, and China's cooperation is pivotal to find out the origin of the virus, but it continues to obstruct the international investigation in this regard," the report said.

The report was issued by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence in response to a request by President Biden to conduct an investigation.

The report indicated that satisfactory answers are still elusive about the origin of the virus, which has so far killed 4.6 million people since its outbreak around the world.

According to Reuters and American media, the US intelligence community is still unable to resolve the differences over the exact origin of the Corona virus that causes Covid-19 disease, so the debate remains without any resolution as to whether an incident in a Chinese laboratory is related to this matter.

In recent months, the theory of the virus leaking from a laboratory in the Chinese city of Wuhan has returned strongly to the mainstream of discussions in the United States after it was ruled out by the majority of experts, and calls for a more in-depth investigation have increased, including in the scientific community.

It is reported that Beijing has accused Washington of spreading "conspiracy" theories about the origin of Covid-19, strongly rejecting the theory that it may have leaked from one of its laboratories.
