A 23-year-old CRS belonging to the company of Saran (Loiret), committed suicide overnight from Wednesday to Thursday in a hotel in Perpignan (Pyrénées-Orientales) where he was traveling.

The young man, single and childless, killed himself with his service weapon while he was alone in his room.

His body was discovered the morning after entering the service where his absence was noted.

No writing was found at his side to explain his gesture.

"Deep sadness"

This is the 24th suicide of a police officer since the start of the year.

"Deep sadness after the suicide of a peacekeeper of the CRS 51. We think of his family, his relatives and his colleagues", reacted the police on Twitter.

In June, the publication of an investigation carried out in February and March by the Mutual Security Forces revealed that nearly a quarter of the police officers had been confronted with "suicidal thoughts", whether it was their own or those of their colleagues.
