Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskiy did not succeed in fulfilling the commitments he made during his speech on the occasion of the country's 29th Independence Day. This was announced by the Committee of Voters of Ukraine (KIU). As the chairman of the organization, Alexei Koshel, noted on Facebook, the politician's ambitious promises were never realized.

“Most of the promises and statements voiced by V. Zelensky in 2020 were not implemented.

In particular, during the year, the authorities failed to ensure a comprehensive ceasefire, which the

president

emphasized (attention -

) during his speech, and the start of the campaign to vaccinate the population against coronavirus was actually failed, despite the president's statements of full readiness for such actions.

V. Zelensky also changed his attitude to the holding of military parades, which a year ago he called “an attraction for the people of Kiev,” Koshel said.

In total, the list of unjustified expectations includes five items, two of which are devoted to resolving the situation in the south-east of Ukraine.

At the forefront of the agenda

Committee analysts emphasize that Zelensky was unable to maintain for a long time the silence regime established in Donbass on July 27, 2020.

“In February, 180 violations of the silence regime were recorded, which was the highest figure since the beginning of the ceasefire.

In just a year of the operation of the silence in the zone of the Joint Forces Operation (JF), 45 Ukrainian soldiers were killed, 163 were injured.

In August 2021, V. Zelensky said that maintaining silence is still the first step for constructive negotiations, ”the organization recalled.

At the same time, the president himself in early August in an interview on the TV channel "Dom" said that the process of resolving the situation in Donbass almost does not depend on him.

“I am doing everything for this (to end the conflict in the region. -

), but, alas, not everything depends on me.

I absolutely do not hide, and the President of the Russian Federation knows my opinion, I believe that today 90% of the success in the return of Donbass in the world and in Ukraine depends on one person, "he said.

According to him, the Ukrainian military does not fire at civilians and only open fire at the positions of the militia in response to their actions.

At the same time, Kiev strengthened its presence in the Donbass, sending military personnel with experience of participation in hostilities and peacekeeping missions to the contact line.

As explained in the JFO headquarters, this measure was taken to ensure full control over the observance of the silence regime and to prevent "possible provocations."

In addition, as pointed out in the People's Militia of the DPR, the Ukrainian side was working to equip new positions on the line of contact, which in the self-proclaimed republic was regarded as a provocation.

The contradictions between the parties resulted in two exacerbations - in September and at the end of October.

Also, the Committee of Voters pointed out that for a whole year the head of state was unable to achieve a revision of the Minsk agreements, to involve the United States in negotiations in the Normandy format, as well as to conduct face-to-face negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Empty promises

An RT source in the Batkivshchyna party notes that it is not worth waiting for Zelensky to fulfill any promises, since he made many of them without having a complete understanding of the situation.

“I think that in the case of Zelensky, his inexperience affected.

He just didn't understand what he had promised.

As soon as the president realized that it would cost him the implementation of the Minsk agreements, he immediately changed his mind.

Although he had previously stated that he was not holding on to power, ”said the interlocutor of RT.

He also noted that empty promises are "a common practice in Ukraine."

A RT source in the president's office agrees with him: "Zelensky tends to change his point of view on different events."

“It happens with experience.

And it turns out that the military parade, during which the president burst into tears, is not so bad.

He also changed his views on the implementation of the Minsk agreements, which he is now delaying.

And now the head of state has begun to think about a second presidential term, although he had not even intended before, ”the official said.

So, the Ukrainian leader began talking about the need to change the Minsk Agreements back in December 2019.

In particular, he said that the provision stipulated in the document on transferring control over the border with the Russian Federation to Ukraine only after the successful holding of local elections in Donbass does not correspond to the position of the current Ukrainian leadership.

Experts note that it is useless to wait now for any progress on Minsk from the side of Kiev, since it is not in the interests of the authorities.

"After all, if the Kiev authorities begin to fulfill the clauses of the Minsk agreements, questions will arise about the causes of the war in the territory of Donbass, a tangle of causal relationships will begin to unwind, and in the end it turns out that the conflict is the result of a coup d'etat in Ukraine," the political scientist explained in an interview with RT. economist Alexander Dudchak.

Also, he stressed, Kiev understands that if the agreements are implemented and the situation in the southeast stabilizes, then Western countries can lift sanctions from Moscow.

“Considering that the main task of the Ukrainian authorities is not to develop the country, but to make sure that the sanctions against Russia are not lifted, I do not expect that the Minsk agreements will be implemented,” Dudchak added.

Detachment from reality

Meanwhile, opinion polls show that the rating of Vladimir Zelensky, as well as the support for his political course by the population, is falling. So, according to a study conducted in July by the sociological center Socis, more than half of the country's residents (64.2% of survey participants) believe that Ukraine is moving in the wrong direction, and only 26.4% of respondents hold the opposite opinion. In addition, more than 40% of the Ukrainians surveyed spoke about their disappointment with the authorities, while only 22.3% and 1.5% of the survey participants expressed their hope in them and pride in their political leadership, respectively.

As for the personal rating of Volodymyr Zelenskyy as president, the figures cited by the sociological group Rating are noteworthy.

According to them, support for Zelensky among the population dropped to 27.2%.

At the same time, he became the head of state, gaining 30.24% of the vote in the first round of elections, and 73.22% in the second.

In turn, the Servant of the People party pointed to the people's disappointment in the president and his team due to their disconnection from reality.

“One gets the impression that Zelensky and his entourage live in some other Ukraine, where there is no corruption and poverty, a strong army, no war in the east, and the entire population is vaccinated with three doses of Pfizer.

And you can quickly plant a billion trees or create a navy.

But reality is at odds with Zelensky's dreams, and the further - the more, "- explained a RT source in the Servant of the People party.

Therefore, he pointed out, one should not wait for the fulfillment of any promises in the near future.

“In the current situation, this is simply unrealistic.

First you need to face the truth, but so far the president has not succeeded, "added the interlocutor of RT.

At the same time, Oleksandr Dudchak points out, one should not completely rely on public organizations such as KIU in assessing the situation in Ukraine, since summing up annual results is always a very politicized process.

"And the Committee of Voters of Ukraine is an organization that lives on grants, where there is an intraspecific struggle of forces that are trying to fulfill the will of Washington," he said.

Moreover, as told by a RT source in the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, Western investors are now very unhappy with the work of Volodymyr Zelensky.

“The president’s entourage is directly told that economic reforms have stopped or are rolling back.

Zelenskiy has pledged to fight corruption.

And where is the result?

Where is the improvement in the living standards of the population?

The IMF even refuses to give loans to Ukraine.

Nobody else believes the promises of the president, "said the source of RT.

At the same time, as Vladimir Zharikhin, deputy director of the Institute of CIS Countries, pointed out in the RT commentary, Zelensky has now begun to actively remove his serious opponents from the political arena.

As an example, he cited the accusations of treason advanced by the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine and supported by the president against the head of the political council of the Opposition Platform - For Life party Viktor Medvedchuk.

“Today, the alternative to Zelensky is Poroshenko, who has begun to restore his popularity, and there are no other candidates yet.

There is no need to wait for the arrival of another government, given the non-free nature of the political process in Ukraine, ”Zharikhin said.

Oleksandr Dudchak adheres to the same opinion, believing that only pro-American figures should be expected in the post of the Ukrainian president in the near future.

“Currently, the prevention of the emergence of centers of resistance to the current regime is being successfully carried out. In these conditions, if there is a change of power, it will be on the same pro-American figures. Nevertheless, I expect that in the future the situation will change, the Ukrainians will elect the head of state the politician who will defend their interests, ”the expert summed up.
