Before 2023, the Health Service has decided to sign an agreement with Falck Ambulans AB and Samariten Ambulans AB.

The procurement is divided into two contract areas and one and the same contractor can only be awarded one area.

The purpose of having two suppliers as today is to reduce vulnerability.

The agreements also contain some news, including that the region decides where and when the ambulances will be in service.

The requirements for the working environment and the competence of the ambulance staff have also been tightened.

Ambulance for very heavy patients

In addition, there must be access to a special ambulance, which is adapted for the care of very heavy patients.

The ambulance agreements are valid for five years with the possibility of extension for a maximum of three years. The costs for ambulance care are estimated to increase, today it is around SEK 210 million per year, in the new agreement the cost is estimated to be around SEK 262 million per year.
