A total of 5,150 ordinary electric bicycles and 120 box bicycles are planned.
The idea was that the procurement of new rental bicycles would have been completed earlier, but the process has dragged on.
The City of Stockholm has now signed an agreement with a Spanish company that will supply the electric bicycles.
The rental bicycle system will be financed by advertising and by the users' subscription fee.
