25 August 2021 The Democratic Party calls for the resignation of Nura Musse Ali, a dem member of the Equal Opportunities Commission of the Tuscany Region who, in an interview with the Tyrrhenian Sea, had defined the return of the Taliban to Kabul as an "obligatory stop" for the history of Afghanistan.

"The words of Nura Musse Ali do not represent the thinking of the Democratic Party, which has always fought for the role of women to be recognized, in Italy as well as in the world", reads a note signed by the head of Security of the Nazarene, Enrico Borghi: " For this reason, in dissociating ourselves from his words and in reiterating our opposition to any regime that eliminates the dignity of people, we ask that he resign ".

The position taken by the dem secretariat comes after the accusations of the Lega. In particular, Matteo Salvini had tweeted: "She is part of the Equal Opportunities Commission of the Tuscany Region and has declared herself in favor of the return of the Taliban regime in Afghanistan: the words of Nura Musse Ali, indicated by the Democratic Party and interviewed by local media, are very serious especially because it is pronounced by a woman ". And again: "How can you support a regime led by criminals who kill, rape, torture and lock up women? We are sure that Letta and Giani will distance themselves, because the apology of radical Islam is incompatible with our democracy ".

Nura Musse Ali, a 35-year-old lawyer originally from Somalia but raised in Pisa, is a member of the Equal Opportunities Commission of the Tuscany Region headed by the Democratic Party. In his interview with Il Tirreno, he explains that, "maybe someone will be surprised, but I am in favor of the fundamentalists taking power in Afghanistan, not because they share their modus operandi. I believe that what we are experiencing was an obligatory stage of history, so that that country finally began its slow path towards an evolutionary interpretation of its laws and the maturation of the concept of political and social life ".
