Employees of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Russian Guard, carried out a special operation, within the framework of which they detained 31 people from among the leaders and rank-and-file members of the Katiba Tawhid Wal-Jihad terrorist organization.

As noted in the FSB Public Relations Center, operational actions to suppress the activities of the interregional structure of terrorists were carried out in Moscow, Novosibirsk, Yakutsk, Krasnoyarsk, the city of Kansk (Krasnoyarsk Territory) and the village of Prokudskoe (Novosibirsk region).

"In the course of operational search activities, it was established that the members of the cell recruited and transferred recruits to the combat zones, financed members of the terrorist structure in the Syrian Arab Republic, and also called for the commission of terrorist crimes," the message says.

The FSB indicated that banned religious literature, propaganda video materials "Katiba Tawhid wad-Jihad", as well as communications, electronic media and bank cards used in illegal activities were seized from the detainees.

“The investigating authorities have initiated criminal cases.

Operational search activities and investigative actions continue, ”the Federal Security Service concluded.

In addition, the press service of the FSB published a video showing fragments of the detention of members of a cell of the Katiba Tawhid Wad Jihad terrorist group in different regions of Russia.

In February, FSB officers in the Novosibirsk and Tomsk regions stopped the work of the Katiba Tawhid wal-Jihad interregional cell, which was financing this terrorist group.

A criminal case was instituted against them under Part 1.1 of Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of Russia ("Assistance in terrorist activities").

In May, two citizens of the Central Asian region, adherents of the Katiba Tawhid wal-Jihad group, were detained in the Kaliningrad region.

They carried out the ideological processing of their compatriots with the aim of sending them to the zones of terrorist activity.

The court decided to expel the detainees from Russia.

Cases of detention of terrorist supporters in Russia

On August 18, five members of a cell of the terrorist organization Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami ** were detained in Crimea.

According to the FSB, they spread terrorist ideology among the residents of Crimea and recruited local Muslims into their ranks.

“The members of the territorial structure carried out anti-constitutional activities based on the doctrine of the creation of the so-called“ world caliphate ”and aimed at violently overthrowing the current government and destroying the institutions of a secular society,” the message said.

The investigating authorities opened criminal cases against the detainees.

On July 29, the FSB of Russia suppressed the activities of a conspiratorial cell of supporters of the international terrorist organization "Islamic State" *** in Tyumen. It consisted of citizens of one of the republics of the Central Asian region, who planned, at the direction of foreign emissaries of a terrorist organization, to commit terrorist attacks on objects of mass stay of people. During the arrest, the attackers resisted and were eliminated.

On July 22, seven members of the extremist community who were planning a terrorist attack on the territory of a police department in Kislovodsk were detained in the Stavropol Territory.

Residents of the Republic of Dagestan, the Karachay-Cherkess Republic and the Stavropol Territory were involved in organizing the planned attack.

They were charged under a number of articles, including for "Organizing and participating in the activities of an extremist organization."

In addition, on July 15 in Moscow, FSB officers prevented a terrorist attack by detaining a Russian who was preparing to detonate a homemade bomb in crowded places.

The identity of the detainee was not disclosed in the interests of the investigation, a criminal case was initiated.
