A total of 14 people are charged in the insider scandal.

Several of the accused are people in the Scanian business community, including the builder Percy Nilsson and Sigma's founder Dan Olofsson.

The trial is divided into two parts where several of the accused are involved in the two suspected insider deals that are to be heard in Stockholm District Court.

Percy Nilsson and Dan Olofsson are charged with a serious insider crime in connection with the sale of the real estate company Victoria Park in May 2018.

Text about real estate business

According to the indictment, Dan Olofsson wrote in a text message to Percy Nilsson that Olofsson, as the owner of Victoria Park, had accepted an offer from the German company Vonovia for an acquisition of Victoria Park.

Hi, Percy.

Will there be a bid for Victoria Park for SEK 38.

Insider information that may be handled with care.

I have accepted this offer but not the previous one from Starwood. "

Percy Nilsson answers in a text message with his thumb up.

On the same day, Percy Nilsson bought shares in Victoria Park for SEK 3.4 million.

When the sale of Victoria Park was announced the next day, Victoria Park's share rose by 8.76 percent.

The prosecutor has demanded that SEK 243,319, which according to the prosecution is the proceeds of the crime, be confiscated from Percy Nilsson or his company.

Both deny any wrongdoing

Both Percy Nilsson and Dan Olofsson deny the criminal charges.

When the indictment came, Dan Olofsson wrote a press release in which he stated that the prosecutor had misunderstood the meaning of the text message in which he wrote that it was inside information that "must be handled carefully".

"The prosecutor makes a reverse and completely incorrect interpretation of this and believes that I caused Percy Nilsson to commit insider trading.

What I have done is the exact opposite because a careful handling of inside information does not include illicit trading ", wrote Dan Olofsson in the press release.

Percy Nilsson's lawyer Lars Kruse has said that Percy Nilsson commissioned another person to buy shares in Victoria Park just before Dan Olofsson sent the text message.

The share transaction, on the other hand, did not have time to be completed before the text message arrived.

The person who should have been instructed to buy the shares must also testify during the trial.

The penalty for a serious insider crime is imprisonment for a minimum of six months and a maximum of four years.
