According to the New York City Police, at about 1:30 pm local time on the 22nd, the 52-year-old female victim was walking along 1st Avenue to the vicinity of East 19th Street. A man suddenly approached her and punched her on the head. Then he broke out Qiu Ya's remarks, and then fled south along the 1st Avenue.
The victim suffered head pain after the attack and was treated by emergency personnel at the scene.
The New York City Police Hate Crime Team has been involved in the investigation.
