The number of new infections with the Corona virus (Covid-19) in the world - today, Monday - reached more than 212 million and 606 thousand, while China did not record any local infection with the coronavirus for the first time since last July, while the death toll in Iran rose amid tightening for preventive measures.

According to the "worldometers" website, which specializes in monitoring all statistics related to the epidemic, the number of injuries reached at 10:30 Mecca time (7:30 GMT) 212 million and 606 thousand and 234 injuries.

The figures document the death of 4,444,785 people, while 190,231,349 people have recovered.

And in second place globally, India comes with 32,449,306 injuries, while the number of deaths exceeded the 434 thousand barrier.

According to data from the Indian "NDTV" network, India today recorded the lowest daily toll in 160 days, with 25 thousand and 72 new cases of the emerging corona virus, and the number of deaths reached 389 cases during the past 24 hours.

Brazil - which records the largest death toll from the virus in the world after the United States, and the third highest number of infections after the United States and India - has been facing sharp increases in both indicators for weeks.

Figures from the Brazilian Ministry of Health indicate that 14,404 new infections with the Corona virus were recorded, and 331 deaths during the past 24 hours.

Indications and Measures

Contrary to these indicators, China - the country that witnessed the first cases of the outbreak of the epidemic - announced today that it has not recorded new infections caused by local infection with Covid-19, for the first time since last July, which gives greater indications that the current outbreak, which It started late last month and may soon diminish.

This outbreak prompted local authorities across China to impose strict measures to respond to the pandemic, which included testing millions of people, to identify and isolate the carriers of infection, as well as to treat the infected.

Meanwhile, health experts are trying to boost confidence in the country's vaccination campaign, while epidemiologist Zhong Nanshan said the country will come close to achieving "effective herd immunity" once more than 80% of the population is vaccinated, a target that may be reached by the end of the year.

He added that Chinese vaccines have an efficacy of about 60% against the delta mutant, while increasing the antibodies with a booster dose.

record score

In Iran, the Ministry of Health announced the registration of a record daily death toll from the Corona virus, which exceeded 680, as the Ministry of Health announced on Sunday, at a time when measures to prevent the spread of the virus were lifted.

The ministry announced the death of 684 people in the past 24 hours, which brings the total number of deaths from the virus in the country to more than 102 thousand deaths.

Iran is the country in the Middle East most affected by the pandemic, knowing that officials in its health sector have previously confirmed that the official numbers remain below the actual.

Last week, the Iranian authorities announced the imposition of 6-day closure measures that were lifted on Saturday, in an effort to limit the spread of the epidemic.

The measures included the closure of government departments, banks and non-essential stores on the entire Iranian territory.

The ban on private car movement between governorates will continue until August 27.

The country has faced an ascending pattern of injuries and deaths since late June, in what officials describe as a "fifth wave" of the epidemic outbreak, the most severe so far, and it belongs to the highly contagious delta mutant.

Mitigation and precautions

This comes while the Algerian Council of Ministers approved the decision to reduce quarantine procedures and open beaches and places of entertainment, while maintaining measures to prevent the Corona virus, and also decided to open new trips towards open destinations and others towards new countries.

Yesterday, the Algerian Ministry of Health recorded 412 new cases of coronavirus, and 20 deaths, while 395 patients recovered.

The ministry stated that 15 states (provinces) have not recorded any cases of infection during the last 24 hours.

In a related context, on Sunday, Israel launched an antibody test for children in their third year, with the aim of obtaining information about the number of unvaccinated young people who have developed immunity to the Corona virus, before the start of the new school year.

And it seems that the Israeli government insists - despite the high number of infections with the highly contagious delta mutant - on avoiding the problems caused by closing schools.

The authorities have already started vaccinating children over the age of 12 with the anti-retroviral vaccine.

The antibody test targets students aged 3 to 12 who do not qualify for vaccination, who make up a total of 1.5 million children.
