August 23, 2021Tommaso Claudi, the young Italian consul, remained in the Afghan capital to maintain an operational connection with the Farnesina which, as he himself says, "made every possible resource available. The embassy machine never stopped. We have ensured a constant presence at the military airport and we are continuing to organize evacuation flights. The main objective is not to leave anyone behind. "

And he leaves no one behind our Consul as we can see in the photo, posted by the Farnesina and which quickly went viral.

Tommaso Claudi is on the airport wall.

He bends over and takes an Afghan child frightened by the crowd in his arms.

Perhaps the most evocative image of these hours in the Asian country: fear, fragility and those who face and help.

Solidarity and hope together.

Thank you Thomas », wrote the general secretary of the foreign ministry, Ettore Sequi in a tweet
