A study showed that the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine lowered the rate of reinfection or severe exacerbation.

This was the result of a third dose of Pfizer's vaccine, booster shot, in Israel in people over 60 years of age, Reuters reported, citing the Ministry of Health's announcement.

The Israeli Ministry of Health said that 10 days after the booster shot was administered, the effect was four times higher than when the second dose was completed.

It was found to be 5-6 times more effective in preventing severe exacerbations or hospitalization.

The Israeli Ministry of Health, however, has not released full details.

Earlier, Maccabee, one of Israel's four major health care organizations (HMO), also released a study last week that booster shots are effective in preventing the spread of delta mutations.
