Because of the strike at Deutsche Bahn, commuters and travelers in Hesse must expect numerous train cancellations and delays from 2 a.m. onwards.

The union of German locomotive drivers (GDL) has announced that it will strike passenger traffic for 48 hours.

Among other things, the S-Bahn traffic in the Rhine-Main area is severely affected.

Most lines in the area of the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV) will only run every 60 minutes.

According to Deutsche Bahn, there will be no trains at all on the S7 and S9 lines.

The Frankfurter Verkehrsgesellschaft has therefore announced that it will expand the capacity of the underground trains in Frankfurt.

The trains are being extended on some lines.

Trains of the Hessische Landesbahn, Vias or Vlexx are not affected

The rest of the regional traffic operated by Deutsche Bahn and long-distance traffic will also be severely restricted. With some lines, the clock is thinned out considerably or they are completely omitted on strike days. Lines that are served by other railway companies, such as the Hessische Landesbahn, Vias or Vlexx, are not affected by the strike.

During the strike of the German Locomotive Drivers' Union (GDL), Deutsche Bahn wants to offer around a quarter of the normal long-distance timetable throughout Germany. Rail travelers should find out about their connections on the bahn.de website before starting their journey. Deutsche Bahn has also set up a free hotline: 08000 996633. Deutsche Bahn has called for journeys that are not absolutely necessary to be postponed with long-distance trains. Further information on S-Bahn traffic is available on the RMV website.
