Novus: Climate and crime more important to voters

- The most important issues actually reflect a concern about the development of society as such.

And this summer we have had very serious crime and shootings and also recurring reports of natural disasters, says Torbjörn Sjöström who is CEO of Novus.

He comments on the fact that, above all, the issue of the environment and climate has grown the most as one of the most important political issues for voters.

In Novus and other recurring polls about which political issue is most important, healthcare is always at the top, but among other important issues, it can now be seen that the environmental and climate issue is growing more than others in importance.

Another issue that is growing in importance is the issue of law and order.

According to Torbjörn Sjöström, it is difficult to see a direct connection between the environmental and climate issue and that a certain party "benefits" from the unrest.

- One would think that the Green Party would win voters over the concern about the climate, but the question is broader than that, says Torbjörn Sjöström.

In general, he believes that a certain concern about the development of society can benefit the opposition. The fact that the issue of law and order is growing in importance can, for example, benefit the Sweden Democrats and the Moderates, as these parties have a high level of trust among voters in this particular political issue.
