Olympique Lyonnais announced on Sunday evening that they had reached an agreement in principle to recruit attacking midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri.
The Swiss international must arrive in Lyon on the night of Sunday to Monday in order to undergo his medical examination, on which the validation of the transfer which would be 11 million euros (bonus included) is conditional.
Aged 29, Shaqiri has 96 caps for the Swiss team with which he eliminated France in the round of 16 of the Euro on June 28.
In addition, Shaqiri has participated in three World Cups (2010, 2014, 2018) and Euro-2016.
Shaqiri played for Basel, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Stoke City and Liverpool where he played since 2018.
Lyon is currently 16th in Ligue 1, without any victory on the clock after three days of the Championship.
OL conceded a draw (3-3) against the promoted Clermont on Sunday.
