Does it surprise anyone that Donald Trump accuses his successor of incompetence and claims that the Taliban did not take power quickly under his leadership?

The former president has always portrayed himself as the greatest and seldom allowed himself to be fooled by the truth.

In the case of Afghanistan it is that Trump himself had a fair share in the "total surrender" that he is now lamenting.

The agreement he entered into with the Taliban a year and a half ago was just as precipitous and ill-considered as the withdrawal for which Biden is now responsible.

Even Trump just wanted out and overlooked the Kabul government in particular.

This has evidently led to a fatal process of resignation towards the West in Afghanistan, which paved the way for the Taliban.

Ultimately, Trump did not care how things would continue in Afghanistan, like Biden, he only wanted to have the guarantee that the country would not become a haven for terrorists again.

However, that is not certain.

When the bailout is over, the American public will likely soon forget about Afghanistan. But Biden's image as an experienced foreign politician retains scratches. Trump and some Republicans, who recently voted for the withdrawal, will ensure that at least the memory of the last few days in Kabul is preserved.
