A previously unknown perpetrator killed two calves on a pasture in Idstein (Rheingau-Taunus district).
Another calf and a cow were so badly injured on Saturday night that they had to be relieved of their suffering on site, the police said.
The perpetrator presumably used a bow and arrow as a weapon.
The police are looking for witnesses who can provide clues about suspicious people or information about the incident.
