China News Agency, Taipei, August 21. Taiwan has uncovered a smuggling case involving unquarantined cats, including 62 cages and nearly 250 rare cat species such as Russian blue cats, with a total amount of 10 million yuan (NTD, the same below) .

According to Taiwan media reports on the 21st, such as the Central News Agency, China Times News, ETtoday News Cloud and other Taiwanese media, Taiwan's administrative authority "Marine Patrol Agency" Kaohsiung Investigation Team recently received intelligence that some criminals went to the waters near Penghu to carry smuggled goods during the epidemic.

Relevant units formed a task force to grasp the ship’s tracks and seized the fishing vessel involved in the case on August 19.

The task force searched on the 20th and found that the ship had two secret cabins with 62 pet-carrying boxes. Each cage contained 2 to 6 precious cats of various sizes. The number was nearly 250, including Russian blue cats and cloth. All kinds of cats, such as puppet cats, Persian cats, American shorthair cats, etc., are worth 10 million yuan.

Captain Lin admitted that the smuggled goods were connected to a vessel at sea and were seized without receiving any payment.

ETtoday News Cloud reported that the police will continue to trace the source of the smuggled goods, but these precious cats may face "humane destruction."
