Sweden's Anna Nordqvist and Denmark's Nanna Koerstz Madsen took the lead in the British Open golf course after the third round played on Saturday at the Scottish Carnoustie course.

On a day marred by heavy downpours, Nordqvist netted a card of 65, or 7 strokes under par, the best score of the week so far.

Koerstz Madsen, for his part, rallied the clubhouse with a card of 68, embellished with an eagle on the 12th hole, but a bogey on the 10th.

With a total of 207 the two players are suddenly ahead of the American Lizette Salas, already third the day before.

Four two-stroke players follow: Finland's Sanna Nuutinen, 21-year-old Scottish amateur Louise Duncan, Sweden's Madelene Sagström, in the lead after the first round on Thursday, and American Lexi Thompson.

American Mina Harigae, who led on Friday alongside Britain's Georgia Hall, fell to 27th after a third card of 76, four over par, weighed down by four bogeys and a double bogey at the hole 16.

Georgia Hall downgraded her to 8th place, due to a very average 73 card on Saturday.

Finally the world No. 1 and American Olympic champion Nelly Korda, in the lead after the 1st day, is also in 8th position with a total of 210, that is to say six under the par, while the Open ends on Sunday.
