The arrest of a drug gang that smuggled cocaine, mainly from Spain and Portugal, revealed that the head of the gang was an elderly woman.

Spain's central police, Guardia Civil, said they had arrested 79-year-old Spanish woman A and two accomplices on drug smuggling charges in northern Portugal in cooperation with local police.

As a result of the police investigation, it was revealed that the drug organization had a strict hierarchy, and that Mr. A was the head of the organization.

In the process of smuggling drugs, Mr. A himself planned everything from raising funds to smuggling and delivered specific instructions to his subordinates.

Although it was a ghost company, Mr. A's business acumen was great.

While bringing in coral stone through the company, he hid cocaine in a container that stores it and handed it over to the final seller.

An investigative official explained, "It is extremely rare that drug funds were financed in this way."

The method by which these organizations hid cocaine was also very precise. Unlike the existing smuggling method, which was usually hidden in shipping items in containers, it was confirmed that Mr. A instructs his subordinates to hide cocaine by creating a secret space between the container frames.

The accomplices caught with Mr. A were men aged 60 and 26, respectively. A 60-year-old man acted as a manager and led the drug trade, and a 26-year-old man took on the role of a field technician who took out cocaine hidden in a container.

After the incident was reported, Mr. A's 79-year-old age and unique crime method drew attention in the local area, and Mr. A was nicknamed the 'drug king grandmother'.

The police said that they plan to expand the investigation into those involved with the organization and make additional arrests based on these arrests.

This is a 'news pick'.
