The Sultanate of Oman ends the decision to ban commercial activities and the movement of individuals and vehicles, starting from Saturday

Muscat: The authorities in Muscat said on Thursday that the Sultanate of Oman will ease a ban imposed to combat the spread of the Covid-19 disease, as it will reopen government offices, commercial centers and restaurants.

She added that cultural, sports and other group activities will also be resumed.

Shops and businesses have been closed between 8 pm and 4 am since May.

The Supreme Committee in charge of combating the Covid-19 pandemic wrote on Twitter that it was decided to end the work of the decision to close commercial activities and prevent the movement of individuals and vehicles, starting from Saturday evening.

The committee issued two decisions that will take effect from the first of September.

The first of them stipulates the adoption of the principle of vaccination as a condition to allow entry to all government units and private sector establishments, including malls, restaurants and other commercial activities, as well as to attend cultural, sports and other group events.

The second decision stipulates that it is required to enter the Sultanate from all land, sea and air ports to receive two doses of one of the vaccines approved in the Sultanate (for those aged 18 years and above), to adhere to a seven-day quarantine, and to undergo a PCR examination for the Corona virus before or upon arrival. to the Sultanate.

It was also decided that receiving the anti-Covid-19 vaccination will be a condition for entering all government units and private sector facilities, including malls, restaurants and other commercial activities, as well as attending all events starting from the first of September.

The committee also decided, according to what was reported by the Oman News Agency, to adopt the general framework for operating schools in the Sultanate during the 2021/2022 school year, according to a mechanism that will be announced by the Ministry of Education.

Oman is witnessing a decline in Covid-19 infections, as it recorded an average of 187 cases over the past week, according to the Reuters disease monitoring index.

The total number of infections there since the start of the pandemic has reached 300,728, while the death toll has reached 4,013.
