Four female students in the twelfth grade (advanced path), at the Secondary School of Applied Technology in Falaj Al Mualla in Umm Al Quwain, have created a device that is a face mask, to protect the first line of defense from medical staff dealing with cases of infection with the “Corona” virus, and helps them deal with them. With patients and safely perform their role.

The project supervisor, Engineer Ali Al-Taweel, said that the students Shamsa Tariq, Hessa Seif, Alia Seif, and Asma Abdullah, took about three months to implement the project, and the cost of the device amounts to about 800 dirhams.

He added, "Finally, the data derived from circulating epidemiological and virological studies is evidence that the emerging corona virus (Covid 19) is transmitted mainly from people who show symptoms to others who are in close contact through respiratory droplets through direct contact with infected people, So the idea of the project is to protect people from respiratory droplets and check the temperature of anyone we may come into contact with.”

He pointed out that the project aims to protect individuals from direct contact, and alert if the body temperature exceeds the normal range by integrating the face shield and the digital thermometer in one product to make it more advanced and smart.

Al-Taweel stated that the project consists of a processing unit, sensors, resistors, a plastic protection shield, a thermal sensor, a sensor to measure the safe distance, a mist sensor, and a power source, explaining that the frame of the "face mask" was designed to match the face of the person who will wear it.
