Torbjörn Tegnhammar declared his resignation at 9 pm on Facebook.

He writes:

"Tonight I have informed the municipal council group in Malmö, as well as the Moderates' party leadership, that out of concern for my family and the party, I choose to resign immediately.

I will not comment further at this time.

I will return eventually with my story. ”

Investigated internally

It was on Wednesday that Kvällsposten was the first to report that Tegnhammar was reported to the police for an incident at the Moderates' office in Malmö in July.

An internal investigation was appointed and a preliminary investigation was initiated.

The police report concerned sexual harassment, and now it was also clear that Torbjörn Tegnhammar had been investigated by the party for a similar incident just a few weeks earlier.

The person who then reported him was Alexandra Hedborg, a local politician in Järfälla, who claims to have been courted by Tegnhammar since 2019.

Met in Gothenburg

- We met at the Sweden Days in Gothenburg and started talking.

I thought it was fun that such a high-ranking moderate wanted to listen to me, says Alexandra Hedborg to SVT News.

Torbjörn Tegnhammar was elected to the Moderates' party board the same year, and according to Hedborg, he continued to want to meet her.

When she was to visit Lund six months later, he suggested dinner.

She describes the conversation on Messenger, which SVT has taken part in, as a shocking experience and showed it to the party in Stockholm.

The party spoke to Tegnhammar and Hedborg was told that he was remorseful, did not understand that he was in a position of power and promised that he would never do it again.

Gives a consistent picture

Alexandra Hedborg is one of four women with whom SVT Nyheter spoke and who give similar testimonies about Tegnhammar's behavior.

SVT has spoken to the woman who reported Tegnhammar to the police.

This is about a person who is employed by the Moderates in Malmö and who does not want to appear by name.

She describes the incident at the office one afternoon in July, after she and Tegnhammar - her boss - visited a restaurant at Lilla torg.

- He grabbed me three times and kissed me.

I tried to protect myself with my arms.

Do not prove crime

The woman informed the Moderate leadership in Malmö and then reported Tegnhammar to the police.

On Thursday, the preliminary investigation was closed.

- I do not expect that crime can be proven.

By that I mean that we can not prove that a crime has been committed, said preliminary investigation leader Niklas Andreasson in a comment.

SVT Nyheter has for several days sought the chairman of the Malmö Moderates, Peter Ollén, for a comment.

On Friday night, he called.

Peter Ollén says that the woman who reported to the police is a very credible person.

He says he urged her to report the incident to the police.

Did not know

Ollén says that he did not know that the incident with Alexandra Hedborg was investigated in Stockholm.

Tegnhammar resigns with immediate effect, and his replacement Håkan Fäldt takes over all positions of trust.

SVT Nyheter has searched in vain for Torbjörn Tegnhammar for a comment.
