20 August 2021 In a climate of great friendship, Silvio Berlusconi and Matteo Salvini addressed the main current issues at Villa Certosa.

This was stated in a joint note by the two leaders, who in the meeting shared "great concern" for the consequences of the crisis in Afghanistan.

"After the Taliban's seizure of power, the situation is deteriorating and this requires a double intervention - explain Berlusconi and Salvini - We need to secure those who over the years have collaborated to make Afghanistan a democratic country and, at the same time, who the international community intervenes quickly to prevent the flight from the Taliban from turning into a disorderly exodus that would have dramatic consequences in terms of human lives and repercussions on the countries of arrival. We must avoid the risk of terrorist infiltration through illegal immigration and that this crisis turns into an opportunity for China to strengthen its hegemonic design ".

The two leaders expressed satisfaction with the results obtained by the center-right government in the first months of the Draghi government. On the initiative of the two parties, they recall, "measures have been approved that will help Italy out of the economic crisis and a NRP has been written that will make GDP grow thanks to huge investments. There will be no new taxes, as requested by the left, but cuts in bureaucracy and in the tax burden for families and businesses. The flat tax will be the first commitment of the next center-right government ".

The calendar of initiatives to be taken between now and the next few months was shared between Berlusconi and Salvini to build a federation between the center-right political forces that support the government and make collaboration even more effective and incisive, especially at the parliamentary level. Forza Italia and Lega are in the meantime committed, it is said, to entrust the Region and the Municipalities that will go to the vote in October to the good governance of the center-right: there is a lot of optimism about the results.
