An Il-112 light military transport aircraft, in development for the Russian military, crashed on Tuesday during a test flight.

All three crew members died in the crash, builder OAK said.

“There are no survivors.

We express our condolences to the relatives of the crew members, ”OAK told TASS news agency, adding that the plane had no casualties on the ground.

An engine on fire

Earlier, the press service of the OAK had declared that the plane had suffered an "accident during the approach phase for landing at the Kubinka airfield", near Moscow.

The investigation committee for its part announced in a press release the opening of an investigation for violation of security rules.

According to the Russian agency Ria Novosti, the plane crashed after an engine fire.

A video broadcast on social media and on television shows an engine on the right wing of the aircraft catching fire before it crashes.

The Koubinka military airfield, where the plane was to land, is due to host from the weekend a large exhibition dedicated to armaments and the Russian army.
