The Paris Bourse lost some ground Wednesday morning (-0.16%) after a negative start to the week due to the spread of the Delta variant and the situation in Afghanistan.

At 9:32, the CAC 40 index yielded 11 points to 6,808.84 points.

Most European stock markets have fallen since the start of the week, amid fears of a slowing economic recovery due to the Delta variant and the Taliban's seizure of power in Afghanistan.

"So far, the week has not been great for European markets although the losses have been moderate compared to this month's gains," notes Michael Hewson, CMC Markets analyst.

On the menu of the day, the publication of the report of the discussions of the last meeting of the US central bank in July.

"Investors will be looking for indications of an upcoming reduction in monetary support" that it provides to the US economy and which has also largely benefited the stock markets, according to Ipek Ozkardeskaya, analyst for Swissquote.

In the UK, inflation slowed to 2% year-on-year in July, following a 2.5% price hike in June.

The title of the energy giant, heavyweight of the odds, brought up the rear by falling 0.90% to 37.49 euros.
