The social care division in Nyköping is struggling with financial challenges, as SVT has previously reported.

The municipality writes on Wednesday that the forecast for 2021 is a deficit of more than SEK 100 million.

To get around the economy, one of the measures is to reduce the number of jobs.

Not planned correctly

- As an organization, we have for a number of years not had a sustainable system when we planned and worked with our staff.

Among other things, we have not developed the joint work with staffing planning well enough, says Jan Holmlund, division manager social care.

According to the municipality, the distribution of the total of 58 services that disappear is as follows: 17 in special housing (elderly and dementia housing), ten in home care, six in the health and medical care organization and 25 in group and service housing.

According to the municipality, the reduction will take place gradually.

According to HR manager Katarina Högström Hadfy, it is not yet known how many will lose their jobs as a result of the downsizing.

But you will soon start reviewing read lists and opportunities for relocations and natural departures.

New staffing unit

Previously, seven positions within the staff and management function have also been removed.

Another step in solving the financial problems is for Nyköping Municipality to start a new staffing unit. The idea is that the unit will handle staffing planning and management of substitutes and vacancies, and in this way it is hoped to reduce the number of hourly-employed substitutes.
