The number of cases of skin cancer has increased in recent years and skin cancer is one of the most common cancers.

From 18 August, times that can be booked for dermatologists and skin clinics around Sweden from Umeå to Ystad will be released, to control skin changes.

- Early detection is very important.

It improves the forecast.

We therefore want to draw people's attention to when to apply and how, says Frida Idenfors.

The campaign is carried out on the initiative of the Association of Private Dermatologists, PDF.

The idea is to spread knowledge about what different skin tumors can look like, and the importance of regularly examining your skin yourself.

The campaign is supported by, among others, the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority and the Melanoma Association.

"Contact the health center"

In Västerbotten, only the skin clinic participates during the week and the times usually end very quickly.

- We encourage people who do not get a time to contact their health center.

In Västerbotten, the health center can then send a picture referral to the dermatologist.

You will then receive an answer after a few days, says Frida Idenfors.

At the skin clinic, you notice an increased search pressure as more people have been vaccinated against covid-19.

- There are many who want to come here and check skin changes.

The search pressure also usually increases when it starts to be spring and when skin cancer has received attention in the media, says Frida Idenfors.

The times are booked on this website.
