Julia Johansson signed up for Göteborgsvarvet together with a friend.
She is an experienced wheelchair runner who has run 20 races before and looked forward to the big party.
Did not get to run the race
Until she stumbled across the text "It is not allowed to participate in the Race with wheels or other aids, such as wheelchairs, hand bikes, bicycles ..."
- At first I thought it could not be true, then I thought I could do something else, says Julia Johansson.
But when she thought for a while, she got annoyed.
- In fact, it must not be the case that you exclude an entire group of people like this, says Julia Johansson.
Reviewing bans
Göteborgsvarvet CEO Martin Bergman says that the ban on driving the race in a wheelchair was introduced with reference to the safety of the participants.
At the same time, the race will now review whether the rules can be changed.
- If there are opportunities, we will of course make sure to arrange it, says Martin Bergman.
