走进八廓街，习近平总书记感慨地说：“千年八廓街，是我们各民族建起来的八廓街。各民族文化在这里交流交往交融，我们中华民族的大家庭在这里其乐融融。”
八廓街如一个缩影，映照的是西藏民族团结的大局。
作为我国重要的边疆民族地区，西藏生活着藏、汉、回、珞巴、门巴等40余个民族。
习近平总书记把民族团结工作放在了西藏全局工作的特殊位置，强调：“56个民族是石榴籽，中华民族是整体的石榴”；“西藏工作必须坚持以维护祖国统一、加强民族团结为着眼点和着力点”；“推动西藏高质量发展，要坚持所有发展都要赋予民族团结进步的意义”。
以地方立法形式提出民族团结进步模范区创建，每年9月定为自治区“民族团结进步宣传月”，让民族团结教育走进各级各类学校课堂，大力表彰民族团结进步先进集体和个人……如今，西藏各民族像石榴籽一样紧紧抱在一起，交往交流交融开新局，中华民族共同体意识不断铸牢，凝聚起共同繁荣发展的不竭动力——
西藏地区生产总值由1951年的1.29亿元增加到2020年的1902.74亿元；2020年农村居民人均可支配收入14598元，比上年增长12.7%；城镇居民人均可支配收入41156元，比上年增长10%……
雄风浩荡藏万卷，磅礴大气独凛然。
历史的车轮滚滚向前，时代的脚步永不停歇。
