We know a little more about the fatal fire that claimed the life of a woman on Saturday night in Le Mans (Sarthe).

According to the public prosecutor, it is a badly extinguished cigarette and an insecticide used to treat bedbugs which would have caused the start of a fire.

In the apartment on rue Armand-Saffray, a woman in her forties died after inhaling fumes.

His companion was also intoxicated and had to be hospitalized.

According to

Ouest-France

, it was he who provided the explanations to the investigators, referring to a badly extinguished cigarette, left in the bathroom where he had just treated mattresses with an anti-flea product.

He would have created a draft by opening the door of the room, making him prisoner of the flames, like his companion.

To escape the fire, the man had to jump from the 3rd floor through the window.

According to the prosecutor, the explanations provided by the man are consistent with the statements made by the experts.

An investigation has been opened.
